The Goddess Ball

October 29, 1995 New York City

Even with connections, this photographer (wearing pointy blue boots and rubber gauntlets, but otherwise plain black) barely made it past the very large queen whose job it was to ensure only the very hip made it into NYC's Palladium for Alternative Fashion Week's Goddess Ball. Never have I seen a bigger, better-dressed crowd. Good thing, too, because it was the only thing on view for several hours. But when the show finally began well after 1 a.m., it was worth the wait. We don't want to slight the many talented designers and the stunning models wearing their creations of leather, PVC, chain mail and fur, but this is after all The Rubber Room ...The Baroness' Web Site, so we'll skip right to her part. She appeared wearing a just-completed angel outfit made of translucent latex, and wings made of latex surgical gloves!

Shine won no small applause when he shot a rubber-tipped arrow into the crowd.

This fiendish goddess then walked the gauntlet in The Baroness' Long Latex skirt and Bolero jacket,

...followed by a horny devil sporting a long black zip skirt and Bolero jacket.

The Village Voice carried a brief review of the show, which featured some 26 designers, in its November 7 issue. The Baroness was named as one of the 3 highlights .
